Mónica Truninger

She is a Principal Researcher (FCT Researcher) at Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa (ICS-ULisboa), where she entered in 2008. Graduated in Sociology by ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, she worked as a research assistant at Observa, between 1997 and 2001, involved in several projects about environment and society. PhD in Sociology by Manchester University, with the dissertation entitled Organic Food in Portugal: Conventions and Justifications. Between 2005 and 2008 she was a member of the interdisciplinar team from the universities of Bangor (Wales) and Surrey (England) as a Post-Doctorate researcher. She was a research assistant at Cardiff University (Wales), within a comparative project between United Kingdom and Italy about school menus and sustainability. In 2010 published the book O Campo Vem à Cidade – Agricultura Biológica, Mercado e Consumo Sustentável, [The field comes to town – biologiacal agriculture, market and sustainable consumption] edited by Imprensa de Ciências Sociais. She has several scientific articles published in various international journals, and is preparing monographies resulting from research projects in the area of school nutrition and food insecurity.
